JENNIFER KITCHEN

Amber was always one of the happiest babies, always smiling, laughing and without a doubt dancing!! (In true Amber style). Her happiness was contagious and brought us and everyone around us, so much joy. Hard to believe something inside her was likely causing her so much pain, and yet she carried on.

Amber was known for her chubby cheeks. Couldn’t help but give them a squeeze when you saw her. It was December 1999 that a few people had pointed out in some pictures, that it appeared as though Amber had a candy in her cheek. Well, 6 months later we found out it wasn’t a candy…it was a tumour! (Say that in Arnold scwartzendager voice…lol inside joke with our family) A grapefruit size tumour in my baby’s little face. A nasty tumour that would take Doctor’s 10 hours to remove! The tumour that left a scar that snaked around her beautiful lips. A tumour that left my little girl with physical and emotional scars, trauma, anxiety and even depression to deal with for the rest of her life. That shit doesn’t go away! It sticks with you like glue!

I have told so many stories over the years about our experience at SickKids hospital. To some of our closest friends, I’m sure you have heard them before like a broken record. I thank you for listening to us all these years, I thank you for your ongoing love and support ❤️ and I thank you for sticking with me and my need to give back to this hospital.

Please support me in my SickKids fundraising efforts. It means the world to our family. Much love.
