Our story about The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada began about 13 years ago.
It was a beautiful June day as we drove into the city. However, the beautiful day would soon change. That afternoon a Doctor told us our 3 year old son had cancer.
Over the next six months, Max had many tests, he had surgery and had to endure chemotherapy.
Just as Max was finishing his chemo treatment, our family would be given another major challenge. Our eldest daughter Daniella, who had just started high school, was diagnosed with a rare form of hydrocephalus, it would require 2 brain surgeries. A year after Daniella's last brain surgery, we were told Daniella would need endure a back surgery to correct her Scoliosis. Daniella had to have the surgery done twice because she developed an infection.
It was a difficult few years! We spent a lot of time at SickKids Hospital back then. We are beyond grateful to the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff who treated and cared for Max and Daniella. Somehow they always managed to make our Family smile during this very difficult and painful time.
Update on our kids....
Max is great, he’s in his second year of High School and will be writing his G1 test in the new year. Daniella is great, she continues to work for a systems integration company and is thinking of possibly visiting Japan in the near future. Jasmine is great, she's in her last year of High School and will be going to College in September.
Mom and Dad are still overly protective and still overreact to any minor medical issue!
This holiday season, our holiday lights will be on display and we will once again be raising funds to support the highest priority needs at SickKids Foundation. All donations made on this page will be issued digital tax receipts via e-mail.
