SickKids mission has always been: Healthier Children. A Better World.™ From opening Canada’s first department of Critical Care Medicine in 1981, to discovering the gene for cystic fibrosis in 1989, to creating the world’s first ‘atlas’ of cancer in 2023, SickKids has been delivering on its mission. For 150 years. Today, the Hospital provides care to over 130,000 patients a year. We’re a research powerhouse, a training magnet, and we are the number one publicly funded children’s hospital in the world. For SickKids 150th Birthday, we’re celebrating 150 years of excellence, driven by philanthropy.
What’s next? We’re going to keep healing Canada, and the world.
