TO DATE WE HAVE RAISED OVER $243,000+ FOR SICKKIDS FOUNDATION
In 1985, Sian – aged just 7 months -- was diagnosed with primitive neuroectodermal tumour. Doctors thought the cancer started in her pancreas and spread through her bloodstream, and by the time the tumour was discovered, it had already spread to her liver, spine and legs. Sian fought bravely, undergoing chemotherapy, surgery and radiation treatment, but succumbed 11 months later.
Unfortunately, Sian’s story is not unique. There are far too many youngsters who spend their childhood in hospital beds instead of a playground.
Since 1992, Sian’s family and friends have been raising funds for the purchase of medical equipment for SickKids, through softball and bowling tournaments, collection of donations, and other sundry fundraising efforts. In 2012, an endowment fund was established in order to continue purchasing priority medical equipment in perpetuity.
If the life of even one child is saved, and that child goes on to be a researcher, teacher, doctor or just a good person who gives something back to improving someone else’s life, all our efforts will have been well worthwhile.
Please join our efforts to raise $100,000 for medical equipment and help young patients stop being patients and return to being just children.
Thank you for your gracious support.
