Joan is a very active Seniorosity® resident at Seasons Cambridge Retirement Community. Seniorosity, a clever combination of the words Seniors and Generosity, is a group that connects to their community through volunteerism, spreading kindness, and sparking joy. Last year, Joan spoke to Fun Manager Erica Boer about a project for which she felt passionate. She shared, "I'm 97 years old, and I'm going to walk 97 laps for charity!" Joan blew away staff, fellow residents, and her family with her courageous challenge and the impact she wanted to make. She walked 97 laps around the outdoor walking track at Seasons Cambridge and collected over 200 lbs of food and $1,600 for the Cambridge Food Bank!
This year, Joan stated, "I'm going to do something outrageous!" She plans to walk 98 laps and shock people by ziplining in Niagara Falls! Joan will donate all funds raised to SickKids to show people you are always young enough to do anything you wish. "My dad used to tell me to leave the world in a better place than when I arrived." Joan's commitment to improving this world through her charitable efforts is incredibly admirable.
